Fairfield

Welcome to Fairfield, California

Fairfield is a city in, and the county seat of, Solano County, California. It is generally considered the midpoint between the cities of San Francisco and Sacramento, approximately 40 miles (64 km) from the city center of both cities, approximately 40 miles (64 km) from the city center of Oakland, less than 19 miles (31 km) from Napa Valley, 16 miles (26 km) from the Carquinez Bridge, and 14 miles (23 km) from the Benicia Bridge. It is located in the North-eastern part of the Bay Area. Fairfield was founded in 1856 by clippership captain Robert H. Waterman, and named after his former hometown of Fairfield, Connecticut.

Fairfield is best known as being home to not just one, but two famous companies, the Jelly Belly Factory and Anheuser-Busch Brewery. Both offer exciting and delicious tours for all ages. Did you know it takes over a week to make a single Jelly Belly jelly bean? Get a behind the scenes look at how Jelly Belly creates its famous bean and over 100 other fine confections on the free daily tours. Just a mile down the road is Anheuser-Busch, where the marquee attraction, “Flights of Fairfield,” includes a one-on-one session with a brewing expert.

As proud as Fairfield is of its two iconic attractions, this area has so much more to offer. Few realize this bustling region is home to a thriving wine country, beautiful outdoor parks, unique wildlife, a natural marsh and a rich history dating back thousands of years. You’ll fall in love with our back roads in Suisun Valley with plenty of small family run produce stands, olive oil and wineries.

Vacaville/Fairfield/Suisun City are home to the Travis Air Force Base, which is under the operational control of the Air Mobility Command. The 60th Air Mobility Wing is the largest wing in the Air Force’s AMC command, and is the host unit at Travis AFB. Travis AFB handles more cargo and passengers through its airport than any other military terminal in the nation. The base has had a major impact on the Central Solano County community, as many military families and veterans have chosen to make the city their permanent home. It is also the largest employer in the entire county and greatly helps the area’s overall economic stability.
